Bob Marley Mausoleum, Nine Miles, Herbal Gardens

Tour Description

Your fun day will begin right outside the cruise ship terminal where your friendly guide will be waiting for you. As you head out along the coastal road, your guide will fill you in on the details and plan for the day.
Enjoy this day trip to Nine Miles, St. Ann to visit the birth and resting place of the late Reggae Legend, Bob Marley. At 3,000 feet, you are treated to an amazing view of the continuous mountain peaks and fresh mountain air. On board your clean air-conditioned bus, you will be heading to the very remote village of Nine Mile in the beautiful hills of St. Ann. Traveling south from the north coast, you will be in awe as you drive through the breath-taking rainforest while your driver gives you information about Jamaica. The drive will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The 1 hour and 30 minute Nine Mile tour includes the birth and resting place the late reggae legend, Bob Marley, what he liked to do and Mount Zion, the spot where he drew his inspiration from to write his songs. Visit the nearby Ethiopian church where his body was laid to rest with his guitar. Please remove your shoes before you enter as a sign of respect. Feel free to look around. A Rastafarian tour guide will be on hand to guide you around the property and answer all your questions. You will have the opportunity to view the room he slept in as a young child and as an adult when he would return on his many “cooling out” visits. The rock that he used as a pillow, on which he would often times relax to draw inspiration to write his songs is still in the very spot. After a light lunch and refreshment, visit the fascinating herbal gardens and learn about their specific healing properties.

Nine Miles Bob Marley

Though Trench Town (the innercity community Bob Marley was originally from) is often called the birthplace of Reggae, 56 Hope Road is clearly where Reggae went to live. Bob purchased the property, now The Bob Marley Museum, in 1975 and made it his home until his death in 1981. If you are a Bob Marley fan it’s obvious that the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston is one of the best places to visit in Jamaica while on vacation.

Explore the former home and studio of the legendary Bob Marley, where you’ll get to see beautifully hand painted murals and a statue of Bob, a myriad of his personal treasures such as his platinum and gold records and awards as well as a stunning photo gallery. But what visitors consider the best part of the one hour museum tour is the visit to Bob Marley’s old room, which was left untouched since the day he left it.

Once you’re done reliving the life of Bob Marley, you’ll want to purchase some CDs or other Bob memorabilia to take back home with you. They will make for the perfect Jamaican souvenir.
