Your transportation will pick you up right outside the cruise ship terminal where your friendly guide will greet you
and get your excursion started. As you are traveling through the countryside

about the area. When you reach the rafting base, you will get on board your 30ft. bamboo raft
and meet your Jamaican captain who will pole the raft down the river Huck Finn style. The rafting trip down this 3-mile
stretch of the well-known Martha Brae is one of the most exhilarating in
Jamaica. The journey takes about 90 minutes. The upper reaches tumble at a good
pace before slowing farther down river where you stop at "Tarzan's
Corner" for a swing and a swim in a calm pool.
Each raft only holds 2 passengers so overcrowding is never an issue. Bring your
camera as the Martha Brae River has lots to see and to photograph as you pass
through the rainforest.
After the relaxation of the Martha Brae River, return to your bus for the short
ride to the famous Rose Hall Greathouse an outstanding relic of colonial times with a fascinating history of
dark rumour and intrigue. The story of Annie Palmer, the mistress of Rose Hall
Great House, is not easily forgotten! In the 1700s, a woman's route to wealth
and power was usually via marriage, and Annie Palmer was no exception.
Annie was feared by the slaves who lived on and worked the plantation. She ruled with an iron fist, and defiance
or even perceived insolence was answered with public whippings, torture in the
dungeon, or even death. According to local legend, following her untimely
death at the hands of her slave lover, Annieâ€™s restless spirit still roams the
grounds. Accounts of her enduring presence have been featured on the TV
programs â€œGhost Hunters Internationalâ€ and World's Scariest Places
